Grant Description
California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) is partnering with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) to build a new facility, Edward Ted Taylor Science and Engineering Building, to support the growing enrollment in the College of Science.

MBNMS offices will be collocated in the building.

The partnership will bring significant benefits from increased visibility and interaction between CSUMB marine science faculty and students.

This is a cooperative agreement of up to $7,000,000 for five years.
Funding Goals
NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARIES CONDUCT AND SUPPORT MONITORING PROGRAMS TAILORED TO THE INFORMATION NEEDS OF EACH SANCTUARY. THESE PROGRAMS TARGET A WIDE ARRAY OF TOPICS INVOLVING NATURAL PROCESSES, HUMAN INFLUENCES ON WATER, HABITAT, LIVING RESOURCES AND MARITIME ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESOURCES. RESEARCH PROJECTS WITHIN THE SANCTUARY SYSTEM ALSO ALLOW SCIENTISTS TO ADDRESS INFORMATION NEEDS THAT ARE NOT RECOGNIZED THROUGH SITE CHARACTERIZATION AND MONITORING.
