Grant Description
Establishing a new 5-year cooperative agreement with the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC), one of the eight regional fishery management councils established by the Manguson Fishery Conservation Act of 1976.
PFMC is responsible for developing fishery management plans for the fisheries in their region that require conservation and management.
These management plans are designed to prevent overfishing, rebuild fish stocks, and protect, restore, and promote the long-term health and stability of U.S. fisheries.

Funding Goals
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE EIGHT REGIONAL FISHERY MANAGEMENT COUNCILS ARE TO PREPARE, MONITOR AND REVISE FISHERY MANAGEMENT PLANS AND DATA COLLECTION PROGRAMS FOR DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN FISHING WITHIN THE 200-MILE U.S. EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE (EEZ). THIS IS DONE WITH APPROVAL AND IMPLEMENTATION BY THE SECRETARY OF COMMERCE WHO HAS STEWARDSHIP RESPONSIBILITY FOR LIVING MARINE RESOURCES IN THE EEZ UNDER THE MSFCMA.
