Cooperative Agreement

Overview

Grant Description
Purpose: This program will develop the green collar trades jobs training to address the need for coastal community, climate-resilient skilled workers in the flood mitigation industry in Louisiana.

Activities to be performed include developing a curriculum training program led by employers, recruiting and training individuals through partnerships with industry subject matter experts (SMEs), academic institutions like SOWELA Technical Community College, and NOAA affiliates.

Expected outcomes involve placing trained recruits into paid apprenticeships, jobs, and career paths within the flood mitigation industry to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in Louisiana.

Intended beneficiaries include Louisiana-based communities that are disadvantaged and underserved, LA employers seeking skilled workers for flood hazard mitigation contracts, and the broader coastal populations, infrastructure, economies, and ecosystems in need of resilience against climate hazards according to NOAA.
