Project Abstract
This project represents the University of Puerto Rico Sea Grant College Program institutional plan for 2024-2028. Our purpose is to maximize funds in order to improve the program administrative capabilities; improve communications at all program components and levels of effort; maintain the level of excellence in all outreach efforts; develop effective mechanisms for the assessment and accountability of our overall efforts; assess and evaluate critical program areas; stimulate activities that promote sustainability and resiliency; and bring our research to a level of excellence, which include the aggressive dissemination of research findings in reports, papers, books, and peer-reviewed articles.

Over the 2024-2028 period, Puerto Rico Sea Grant will plan and coordinate all program activities. Our program management will design and implement procedures to reach the projections stated in this proposal. Program administration will engage in the following methodologies, procedures and activities to accomplish its goals: development of evaluation projects, including accountability, for the assessment of program components including: the marine education project, communications, and research management and activities; provide research and educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, through projects, and seed money awards; expand and strengthen its linkages with government programs and agencies, as well as environmental non-governmental organizations with formal agreements, and joint efforts in research and extension projects
Funding Goals
TO SUPPORT THE ESTABLISHMENT AND OPERATION OF MAJOR UNIVERSITY CENTERS FOR MARINE RESOURCES RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING AND TO SUPPORT MARINE ADVISORY SERVICES. SOME INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS IN THESE SAME AREAS ALSO RECEIVE FUNDING.
