Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This proposal calls for the acquisition of high performance computing resources, located at Mississippi State University (MSU) and supporting infrastructure, to build HPC capacity in support of NOAA research and development activities.
This computing resource will provide HPC capacity to run larger, more complex, and more detailed environmental models, while advancing the historical and on-going relationships between NOAA and NOAA collaborators and MSU scientists.
The HPC resources acquired through this request will support NOAA needs for research and development in the following mission areas, to include:
- Comprehensive numerical modeling of the global system, which is the cornerstone of weather forecasting, weather and climate research, and understanding ecosystems and coastal issues
- Simulation of the complex interactions of the atmosphere, ocean, land surface, cryosphere, chemically active atmospheric constituents, biogeochemical cycles on land and in the ocean, and terrestri
