Overview

Grant Description

Abandoned and derelict vessels (ADV) and derelict fishing gear (DFG) pose a threat to local communities through the ongoing release of hazardous and destructive materials into the local environment, and the potential contamination and entanglement of critical food resources that the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands and Freely Associated States communities rely on.

In addition, ADVs and DFG present in these areas are an eyesore and detract from the vibrant ecosystems that tourists expect when they visit these islands, which represents the primary economy in all of these Pacific Island jurisdictions.

Removing ADVs and DFG will provide additional support to.
