Grant Description
BoatU.S. Foundation will administer a national competitive grant competition for the removal of abandoned and derelict vessels. It is expected 20-75 organizations will receive grants to remove abandoned and derelict vessels from this competition.
Additionally, this project includes the development of a national abandoned and derelict vessel database to track locations of abandoned and derelict vessels and removal efforts.
Outreach and education activities include a multi-day national conference on boating-related debris disposal to create peer-to-peer relationships between marine industry, disposal companies, and government entities.
Other outreach activities include creating both a video series highlighting selected removal projects and a documentary on abandoned and derelict vessels.
