Cooperative Agreement

Overview

Grant Description
The project will create an inclusive environment to enhance geodetic research, education, and training, facilitate technology transfer to make the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) more accessible to users in regions of significant crustal motions and extensive shorelines.

A successful outcome of the project will help reduce the recognized deficiencies in national geodetic science expertise while promoting diversity and climate justice in the broad field of geospatial referencing and modeling.

Scripps Institute of Oceanography's diverse group of faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and supporting staff will collaborate with NGS in the three goals and objectives summarized below:

(1) Create a formal geodesy program and expanded curriculum.

(2) Develop and implement a supplementary NSRS model at the centimeter level for users in regions of significant ground motions.

(3) Investigate a unified vertical reference frame using remote sensing methods.
