Grant Description
The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation will be awarded up to $3,304,858 over three years to remove or remediate physical barriers to migrating juvenile and adult salmonids and other native fish species in three sub-basins within the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation ceded territory. The three sub-basins include Umatilla, Walla Walla, and Grande Ronde.
The projects within the Walla Walla and Umatilla sub-basins are classified as imminent threat or priority passage barriers. The projects within the Grande Ronde sub-basin address barrier removal within critical spawning and rearing habitats.
Collectively, the projects will improve or fully provide access to habitat for Endangered Species Act-listed steelhead, bull trout, and spring Chinook salmon.
