Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund (PCSRF) has a single long-term goal: "Overall sustainability of Pacific salmon" (NOAA 2006).
Consistent with this goal, Alaska's PCSRF program, the Alaska Sustainable Salmon Fund (AKSSF), supports a myriad of projects necessary to maintain healthy salmon populations and to protect or restore their habitats.
AKSSF projects, selected through a rigorous technical review process, focus on proactive approaches to habitat conservation and maintenance of salmon populations utilized in subsistence fisheries.
AKSSF utilizes rigorous science-based processes for developing calls for proposals (CFPs) and evaluating proposals. The CFP process utilizes interagency science advisors to ensure projects are focused on high priority activities and areas.
This process is important, as the cost of proposals received in any given year greatly exceeds available funding. All proposals undergo review by independent technical experts whose scores are then used to determine funding allocations.
