Project Grant

Overview

Grant Description
Through a competitive annual grant process and state contracting practices, continue California's recovery efforts on behalf of federal Endangered Species Act (ESA)-listed endangered Central California Coast (CCC) coho salmon, winter-run chinook salmon, and southern steelhead populations, as well as listed threatened Southern Oregon/Northern California coho salmon, north and central steelhead populations, and threatened chinook.

This includes National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Species in the Spotlight: CCC coho and the Central Valley winter-run chinook salmon that contribute to the prey base for Southern Resident killer whales.

The primary objective is to re-establish self-sustaining healthy populations of salmonids in California.

New initiatives are underway to increase the work accomplished in underserved and historically marginalized communities, as well as building organization and tribal capacity to conduct this work.
