Grant Description
Accelerate NOAA's mission in the Great Lakes by conducting primary research needed to meet key scientific challenges faced in managing the Laurentian Great Lakes. Increase the impacts of research by fostering engagement with resource managers and decision-makers that help turn science into action. Provide cutting-edge career training that prepares a diverse and adaptable workforce of social scientists, natural scientists, engineers, and design experts to be the next generation of researchers and practitioners on the Great Lakes. Promote public literacy about the Great Lakes with a coordinated outreach and communications program across the region.
Funding Goals
TO INCREASE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOP INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO EDUCATION IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES BY FACILITATING COOPERATION BETWEEN GOVERNMENT, UNIVERSITY, AND NONPROFIT RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS.
