Cooperative Agreement
Overview
Grant Description
NFWF will work with NOAA Fisheries to support the electronic monitoring and reporting regional implementation plans developed by the fisheries management councils to identify, evaluate, and prioritize implementation of promising electronic technologies that improve our knowledge of the fisheries and empower fishermen and other citizens to become more actively involved in the data collection process.
The current application proposes to administer an electronic monitoring and reporting (EMR) grant program in 2022 that advances the NOAA Fisheries goals for healthy oceans, sustainable fisheries, and safe seafood for healthy populations and vibrant communities by supporting partnerships and cooperation among NOAA staff, regional fishery management councils, commercial and recreational fishermen, service providers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), universities, and others.
Through this program, NFWF will help advance the adoption of effective and practical electronic technologies to monitor and report on fishing activities, improve data collection, and enhance the overall sustainability and management of our fisheries.
