Overview
Grant Description
The purpose of the proposal is to manage, enhance, restore, and maintain the shared fisheries, protected species, and fisheries habitat of the US Atlantic Coast. This program will support the conservation and restoration of marine fishery resources and their habitat, as well as the maintenance, enhancement, and improvement of public uses and benefits from these resources, including seafood production, recreation, and commerce.
ASMFC staff will work to support specific objectives of the proposed activities, including:
1) Provide services and research support for living marine resources management and associated activities relating to fishery stakeholders consistent with the mission of NOAA Fisheries.
2) Coordinate trainings, workshops, and meetings to gather and convey information related to fisheries, protected species, and habitat management.
3) Collect, analyze, and maintain fisheries, protected species, and habitat management data.
4) Support regional aquaculture science and marine cooperation.
