Purpose: This project will support the modernization of the local fishery data collection systems for the fisheries of the Western Pacific, including American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the State of Hawaii.
Activities to be performed:
1. Modernization of the Western Pacific Fisheries Information Network database so multiple disparate datasets collected by the Pacific Island States and Territories can be warehoused for improved access and regional coordination.
2. Creation of territorial requested data modules for the Catchit Logit application and integrating these data streams into the database.
3. Assistance with accessing and analyzing data during the modernization process will also be provided to meet the Pacific Island States and Territories' needs.
Assessing and potentially redesigning the current fishing creel survey methods used in the territories to support modern stock assessment methods and to produce the best estimates of catch and effort.
