Overview
Grant Description
This super grant application requests FFY19, 20, and 21 Section 5339(a) formula funds apportioned to the State of Montana and suballocated to Missoula Urban Transit District (MUTD) in the amount of $666,583 (breakdown provided below). This application also requests FFY21 Section 5339(c) low or no emission competitive funds apportioned to Missoula Urban Transit District (MUTD) in the amount of $3,666,500 (full apportionment). The discretionary ID is D2021-LWNO-031.
FY19 5339(a) suballocation: $13,889 (lapsing and remaining suballocation)
FY20 5339(a) suballocation: $583,422 (full suballocation)
FY21 5339(a) suballocation: $69,272 (partial suballocation)
FY21 5339(c) apportionment: $3,666,500 (full apportionment)
Total: $4,333,083 federal share
Purpose: This grant is for planning work and the purchase of replacement electric buses and charging equipment per the competitive application for 5339(c) attached in application documents. Due to cost increases, the original request is not sufficient to cover the full price of these vehicles or equipment. Therefore, the additional funds were added to make up the difference.
Activities to be performed: The funds will be used to do planning needed to identify the appropriate electric vehicle type and purchase four (4) 35-ft battery electric buses and associated charging infrastructure to replace diesel buses that have met their useful life.
Expected outcomes: These electric buses will help to improve air quality and reduce emissions in the Missoula area, which is currently a federal non-attainment area for PM10 and a maintenance area for carbon monoxide.
Intended beneficiaries: MUTD and residents of Missoula, MT.
STIP/TIP and long-range plan documents, as well as the original competitive application, are attached in application documents.
Pre-award authority is selected for contracting purposes, but no costs have been incurred to date.
