Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide the Mississippi Department of Transportation and its subrecipients operating assistance and capital funding to provide transportation services for people with disabilities and older adults classified as seniors.
Activities Performed: Funds will be used to cover eligible operating expenses such as driver salaries, fuel, items having a useful life of less than one year, and preventive maintenance in order to continue service for people with disabilities and older adults classified as seniors. Funds will also be used for eligible capital investment, including the continued employment of a mobility manager and the purchase of services from public and private nonprofit transit providers.
Expected Outcomes: Funding will permit the Mississippi Department of Transportation and its subrecipients to continue to provide service for people with disabilities and older adults classified as seniors.
Intended Beneficiaries: People with disabilities and older adults classified as seniors in the state's rural, small urban areas, and large urban areas.
Subrecipient Activities: The following subrecipients will receive operating assistance to maintain services: Jackson Medical Mall Foundation, Singing River Hospital Health System, South Central Community Action Agency, and Timber Hill Region IV Mental Health. The following subrecipients will receive capital funding under this grant: Mississippi Christian Family Services; Quality Mental Health (d/b/a Life Help); Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources; Region One Mental Health; Warren Yazoo Mental Health Services; Natchez Senior Citizen Multi-Purpose Center; Willowood Development Center; Timber Hills Region IV Mental Health; Jackson Medical Mall Foundation; Singing River Hospital Health System; Hinds Behavioral Health Services Region IX.
