Overview

Grant Description
Application purpose: This application is requesting FY2023 and FY2024 Community Projects funding for a total federal amount of $8,880,000.

The local match is $1,638,765 that is derived from local 1/2 cent transportation sales tax and 3/8 cent ATA sales tax.

The total application amount is $10,518,765.

These funds will be used to secure replacement low or no emission vehicles for diesel vehicles that have met their useful life and the installation of battery electric charging stations and other supporting infrastructure.

Activities performed: The replacement of six (6) diesel buses with six (6) compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles and the replacement of three (3) diesel vehicles with 3 battery electric vehicles.

Additionally, this application includes the installation of charging stations, workforce development, contracted project management, and project administration activities.

Expected outcomes: The new replacement low or no emission vehicles will improve transit service and maintenance efficiency and reduce costs associated with repairs.

Deploying this newer energy technology will also reduce current energy consumption and harmful emissions including greenhouse gases and particulates.

Intended beneficiaries: Transit communities of Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri.
