Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application purpose: KCATA is applying for funding on behalf of Johnson County Transit (JCT) and is requesting $7,650,000 of FY 2024 Section 5339 Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds with a local match of $1,350,000 for a total of $9,000,000.
Funding will be utilized to purchase a total of eighteen (18) new energy efficient clean diesel ADA-accessible buses to replace old diesel buses that have met their useful life.
The vehicle types will consist of 30 ft., 40 ft., and large 45 ft. commuter buses.
The vehicles will replace large 40 diesel fueled buses that have met their useful life.
All riders will benefit from this project since new vehicles will aid in emission reduction, improve air quality, improve efficiencies, and use a sustainable domestic fuel.
Clean diesel buses reduce emissions and pollutants, provide attractive and energy-efficient transit.
The purchase of the new vehicles will also support the region's Connected 2050s vision: a safe balanced regional multimodal system coordinated with land-use planning supports equitable access to opportunities and protects the environment.
Activities performed: Funding will be utilized by Johnson County Transit to purchase a total of eighteen (18) new energy efficient clean diesel ADA-accessible buses to replace old diesel buses that have met their useful life.
The vehicle types will consist of small 30 ft., 40 ft., and large 45 ft. commuter buses.
