Overview
Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this grant is to utilize FY22 5339 funds and FY19/FY20 5307 funds for fixed route operating assistance, farebox purchases, bus stop improvements, and one (1) Class 700 bus purchase;
Activities performed: Funds will be used to cover all eligible operating expenses such as driver salaries, fuel, and items having a useful life of less than one year.
Replace eight (8) Odyssey model fareboxes currently in use by the Mankato Transit System fleet as this farebox model has been discontinued by the manufacturer December 31, 2022.
Improve 23 bus stop locations to comply with ADA requirements and purchase one (1) Class 700 low floor diesel bus to replace an existing bus that has met its useful life.
Expected outcomes: Funding for the projects mentioned will allow Mankato Transit System to continue to provide safe, reliable, efficient, and accessible transportation service to the Mankato urbanized area.
Intended beneficiaries: Mankato Transit System and the riders that rely on its service will benefit from the continued service to desired destinations such as employment, grocery stores, health care, retail shopping, entertainment, food shelf, and governmental offices.
