Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide funding for the modernization and expansion of the Burnsville Bus Garage.
Activities Performed: Funding for Phase 3 will be used to install maintenance area mechanical features and add-on options for state-of-good repair and expansion that available funding has not been able to support to date. This will allow MVTA to implement energy efficiency and sustainability improvements including lighting, roofing, HVAC, doors, and windows. Additional state-of-good-repair items and security upgrades will be included in this phase as well as electrification initiatives to lay the foundation for electric vehicles.
Technology enhancements in a variety of areas will be deployed during this phase along with the development of a mezzanine-level workforce center.
Expected Outcomes: The modernization of the Burnsville Bus Garage will improve the efficiency and turnaround time of bus maintenance, repair, and pull-outs. Phase III supports MVTA local and regional sustainability initiatives and provides a work center for potential transit workers interested in the field (operations, mechanics, etc.).
Intended Beneficiaries: MVTA and the riders (public) that rely on its service.
Subrecipient Activities: Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) is the subrecipient of these funds and will be overseeing the construction of this project.
