Grant Description
This application is to request Section 5337 Hi Intensity Fixed Guideway funds apportioned to the Minneapolis/St. Paul UZA in the amount of $7,555,080. This application requests funding for multiple rail projects: rail replacement and maintenance for light rail and commuter rail track and LRV overall including brakes, doors, and pantographs.

This application is for a total of $9,443,850 with $7,555,080 federal and $1,888,770 local match. The federal funds are from: Section 5337 (RAIL) funds in the amount of: $7,025,053 is FY 2022, $7,857 is 2021, $400,000 is FY 2020, and $122,170 is FY 2019. The local match is from regional transit capital.

Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide funds for keeping the commuter and light rail systems in a state of good repair, including track maintenance and rail vehicle overhaul.

Activities to be performed: Activities include overhaul, rebuilding, and replacement of LRV components and subcomponents, and LRT rail replacement.

Expected outcomes: Enabling light rail vehicles to reach their intended life span of 30 years and keeping rail systems operating safely and efficiently.

Intended beneficiaries: Beneficiaries include both rail operators and maintenance staff and riders of the rail systems.

Subrecipient activities: None.

By executing this grant, we certify that projects funded in this grant are included in the 2022 TAM Plan Investment Prioritization section.

Documents attached include the FTA/FHWA STIP approval letter of October 29, 2021, relevant STIP pages for the various projects, and our federal indirect rates letter and CFR.

At the time of application, indirect costs for this grant are estimated to be $682,200.
