Grant Description
This grant provides $2,914,666 ($523,991 FY2018; $1,210,687 FY2019; $1,179,988 FY2020) of Section Large Urban 5310 funds for mobility management activities in the Metropolitan Twin Cities area.
$2,623,200 of federal funds will be used for Transit Capital Assistance Programs (TCAPs) for transportation coordination expenses from June 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023, and $291,466 (10%) will be used for allowable state program administrative expenses. $655,800 of local match will be provided by the entities that receive the federal funds.
Purpose of the award: Funding will support TCAP mobility management organizations in their efforts to identify and reduce transportation gaps, streamline access to transportation, and provide more transportation options for seniors and people with disabilities in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Activities to be performed: TCAP programs will provide travel training, provide one-stop travel information for trip planning purposes, identify available transportation providers within their transportation service area, coordinate vehicle sharing between organizations, and manage volunteer driver programs.
Expected outcomes: These programs are expected to enhance the public transportation experience by encouraging coordination among transportation providers, which will create greater access and mobility; align resources to reduce individual ride times; and create opportunities for more social interactions.
Intended beneficiaries: Seniors and people with disabilities in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
