Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and its subrecipient Prince Georges County FFY 2022 Section 5339(c) funding for the purchase of twenty (20) BEBs and the associated depot charging infrastructure; to upgrade the electric system at PGCS main transit facility; design and build a solar roof (microgrid) to support the deployment of the twenty BEBs and render PGC less reliant (on local energy grid) and more resilient; and install on-route chargers at five (5) transit hubs throughout the service area in an effort to expand access to BEBs.
Activities Performed: Prince Georges County will use the Section 5339(c) funds to: 1) purchase twenty (20) battery electric buses (BEB; 2) upgrade to the main electric system; 3) design and build a solar roof (microgrid) to support BEB deployment; and 4) install on-route chargers at five (5) transit hubs.
Expected Outcomes: Funding will support the transition of Prince Georges County to the lowest polluting and most energy efficient transit vehicles.
