Overview
Grant Description
This application is to request Section 5310 funds apportioned to the Massachusetts Section 5310 Urbanized Areas (UZAs) in the total amount of $4,965,857. The UZA breakdown is as follows:
- Boston: $2,385,629
- Barnstable: $337,046
- Worcester: $635,846
- Springfield: $756,571
- Providence: $190,747
- Small Urban: $472,400
- Rural: $187,618
Purpose:
The purpose of this award is to provide the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and its subrecipients with operating assistance and capital funding to provide transportation services for people with disabilities and older adults.
Activities to be Performed:
Funds will be used to cover eligible operating expenses such as driver salaries, fuel, items with a useful life of less than one year, and preventive maintenance in order to continue service for people with disabilities and older adults. Funds will also be used for eligible capital investment, including the purchase of vans and mini-buses. Additionally, capital mobility management funds will be used for a travel training program in the western part of the state. This funding will permit the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and its subrecipients to continue providing service for people with disabilities and older adults.
Intended Beneficiaries:
The intended beneficiaries are people with disabilities and older adults in all areas of Massachusetts, including Boston, Barnstable, Worcester, Springfield, small urban areas, and rural areas.
Subrecipient Activities:
MassDOT will be purchasing a total of 56 fully accessible vehicles, including 5 for expansion and 51 for replacement. The subrecipients include:
- Brockton Area Transit Authority
- Lowell Regional Transit Authority
- Pioneer Valley Transit Authority
- MetroWest Regional Transit Authority
- South Shore Community Action Council
- Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority
- Worcester Regional Transit Authority
- Berkshire Regional Transit Authority
- Montachusett Regional Transit Authority
- Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority
The following subrecipients will receive operating assistance to maintain services:
- City of Revere
- Brockton Area Transit Authority
- Cape Ann Transit Authority
- City of Newton
- Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority
- Old Colony Planning Council
- South Shore Community Action Council
- Springfield Partners for Community Action
The following subrecipient will receive capital mobility management assistance to continue its travel training program:
- Pioneer Valley Transit Authority
The VINs being replaced are shown on an attachment to this grant entitled "VIN Replacement by Organization FY22 CTGP Awards." The coordinated plans link and page numbers are shown on the attachment "Coordinated Public Transit CTGP FY22."
