Grant Description
Purpose: This is a discretionary FY 2020 Section 5339 Low-No funding application in the amount of $5,162,785 for the purchase of electric buses with accompanying chargers. The discretionary project number is D2020-LWNO-16. This award was competitively selected and will assist Capital Area Transit System (CATS) with its fleet expansion/replacement and the agency's transition to electric vehicles.
Activities to be performed: CATS will use the funding to purchase seven (7) electric buses with accompanying chargers. The buses will be funded at a 75/25 match as reflected in the original Form 424 that was submitted via Grants.gov. Local funding will be provided by local property tax funds that will extend through 2032.
Expected outcomes: These funds will allow CATS to continue efforts to reduce its carbon emissions while assisting the agency's transition to electric vehicles.
Intended beneficiaries: CATS will continue to provide safe, reliable transportation to the residents and visitors of Baton Rouge, LA.
