Overview
Grant Description
This project purpose is to help address the most pressing recreation-related maintenance and infrastructure needs to support a positive recreation experience for visitors on BLM lands and waters.
The foundation in partnership with BLM state offices, will perform the following activities:
1) Develop a pipeline of recreation projects that are ready to receive and deploy funds to support resilient recreation, including infrastructure, education materials, signage, and other tools that can support the visitor experience on BLM managed lands and waters.
2) Work to help improve and standardize user data collection methodologies to better understand visitation and enable land managers to make better informed land management decisions.
3) Produce a state of recreation on BLM lands and waters report to showcase the current state of funding for recreation, the impact that recreation on BLM lands and waters has on the U.S. economy, and opportunities to fund recreation projects in each state.
The report will be used to engage the local communities, private sector and other stakeholders to increase private funding for BLM lands and waters.
4) Contract with Quantified Ventures, an innovative finance consultancy, to build out at least three state-based feasibility reports that will outline strategies and financial models for potential funding, financing, and partnership opportunities for priority projects.
Deliverables include state of recreation on BLM lands and waters report and non-federal partner subawards.
This agreement intends to stimulate local economies adjacent to BLM managed lands.
