Overview
Grant Description
Project objectives: Perform assessment, inventory, and monitoring: Conduct inventories, assessments, and evaluations of soil and vegetation conditions to analyze and ensure progress toward meeting land health standards while maximizing opportunities for commercial, recreational, and conservation activities:
Our technical team has identified a need for AIM data (AIM Data Viewer) in the following areas: Gila District Safford FO, Colorado River District Kingman FO, and Arizona Strip Arizona Strip FO Grand Canyon-Parashant, NM FO.
The conservation districts, AACD, and our technical team have working relationships with these districts FOs.
AACD's technical lead has previous AIM experience in the Bureau of Land Management San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area.
Our team also has extensive monitoring experience on US Forest Service lands, state lands, and private lands.
Our team is established and trained (Lead Tech BLM AIM trained certified), with our own equipment and technologies in place to perform the work needed to facilitate the conservation and restoration of rangelands.
Other areas in the state could benefit from additional AIM data, and we can work anywhere in the state.
Engage community members and other stakeholders, through mentoring, training, and educational programs: Engage local stakeholders through Local Work Group (LWG) meetings.
Through LWGs, conservation districts bring together all local area stakeholders to identify resource concerns and develop solutions and partnerships based on those concerns and local knowledge.
Educate stakeholders about the ConserveAZ portal, where AIM data can be shared with a wide number of stakeholders including producers and other land management agencies active in the state.
The ConserveAZ portal is an innovative mapping tool that uses a central repository of diverse data to aid users in conducting resource needs assessments, identifying resource priorities, tracking the progress of conservation practices, and developing conservation plans.
The portal can help stakeholders identify high-priority areas and direct leverageable funds to address resource needs.
AACD's working relationships with stakeholders—ranchers, federal agencies, state land, etc.—are in place and we are engaged in over $28 million in current conservation work.
Facilitate conservation and restoration of rangelands to help combat climate change Executive Order 14008:
Through this project, we will continue to grow our statewide partnership efforts to maintain and improve the resilience of forest and woodland ecosystems to wildfire, insects, disease, and drought through density management, the control of invasive and exotic species, riparian restoration through the development, implementation, and monitoring of conservation plans and practices.
Through conservation planning, practice implementation, and monitoring, we can increase resilience to the impacts of climate change, protect public health, and conserve our lands, waters, oceans, and biodiversity.

Funding Goals
FUNDING OPPORTUNITY GOALS 1. CONSERVING AND RESTORING LANDS TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE: PROMOTE CLIMATE RESILIENT LANDSCAPES BY FOCUSING ON MAINTAINING IMPROVING LAND HEALTH THROUGH APPROPRIATE LIVESTOCK GRAZING USE, MANAGEMENT OF INVASIVE SPECIES AND NOXIOUS WEEDS, AND MANAGING SOIL RESOURCES. 2. RESTORING LEGACY DISTURBANCES: SUPPORT RESTORATION OF LANDSCAPES IMPROVING RANGELANDS THROUGH GRAZING MANAGEMENT ON THE GROUND PROJECTS INCLUDING VEGETATION RESTORATION TREATMENTS, AND GRAZING MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES, AND SOIL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. 3. DECISION SUPPORT FOR ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT: TO BETTER SUPPORT LAND MANAGEMENT DECISIONS REGARDING GRAZING AND OTHER RANGE MANAGEMENT TREATMENTS, SOIL MANAGEMENT, AND INVASIVE SPECIES, THE BLM WILL PLACE A PRIORITY ON COLLECTING DATA THROUGH THE USE OF CONSISTENT, COMPARABLE, AND COMMON INDICATORS, CONSISTENT METHODS, AND AN UNBIASED SAMPLING FRAMEWORK WHICH WILL ALLOW FOR ANALYSES THAT ARE REPEATABLE AND COMPARABLE ACROSS A REGION, AND DECISIONS BASED ON SCIENCE AND DATA THAT ARE LEGALLY DEFENSIBLE.
