The purpose of this award is to implement the BLM NAMF-AIM framework to assess streams across the Yukon-Kuskokwim watersheds. In addition to the BLM NAMF-AIM framework, water quality and other supplemental indicators will support the larger effort of a holistic watershed approach.

This habitat assessment methodology and study design provides for scalable analysis of baseline conditions and future trend detection by establishing a network of monitoring sites across the drainage. The NAMF-AIM methods allow for comparison of impacted degraded sites to regional reference condition across key habitat quality metrics, which is critical for assessing basin wide fish and wildlife habitat restoration needs into action-oriented restoration framework.

The BLM is already systematically collecting habitat assessment data across these basins on Bureau managed lands and using the information to implement stream restoration projects in the headwaters of the Yukon River. ADEC will expand data collection to close data gaps across land ownerships and accelerate restoration efforts.
