Overview

Grant Description
This application is for FY2020 Section 5339 funding in the amount of $4,987,500. These funds will be used to replace approximately nine diesel buses that are near the end of their useful life, replace 48 emergency hand-held radios, install a new electrical redundancy system for the bus facility, and to install new real-time solar-powered bus signage at a minimum of ten of our busiest bus stops.

The local match of $937,500 will be provided through our local mill levy funding. The federal share is 85% for the bus replacement and 80% for the other items. The start date is the same as the date of award, and the end date is December 31, 2027.

Topeka Metro is a direct recipient. This application for federal assistance is consistent with the sub-allocation identified in the designated recipient sub-allocation letter dated 04/03/1982 and attached to this application. This application does not include funds for research and/or development activities. Indirect costs will not be applied to this application and its scope of work.

Topeka Metro does not use force account labor for any activities. These projects are in the 2021 - 2024 TIP on page 71. Topeka Metro leases postage machines and the use of communication towers for emergency radios. These are operational leases.
