Grant Description
Application purpose: This award will be utilized to purchase vehicles for IndyGo's third bus rapid transit line (BRT) the Blue Line.
The Blue Line will replace and improve the existing Route 8 local service, one of the highest ridership and most productive routes in the IndyGo system.
Activities performed: The project activities will include purchasing five 60ft buses for IndyGo's Blue Line BRT.
Expected outcomes: This project is expected to provide more frequent and reliable transit service as well as improve access to jobs and services through central Indianapolis.
Intended beneficiaries: The Blue Line is intended to benefit all current and future IndyGo riders as well as residents of the city of Indianapolis.
The project will provide vast improvements to IndyGo's existing Route 8, which is one of the high ridership lines.
