Overview

Grant Description
Application purpose: This award will be utilized for project development activities for IndyGo's third bus rapid transit line (BRT) the Blue Line.

The Blue Line will replace and improve the existing Route 8 local service, one of the highest ridership and most productive routes in the IndyGo system.

Activities performed: The project will include activities such as design program management and construction management for IndyGo's Blue Line BRT.

Expected outcomes: The overall Blue Line project is expected to provide more frequent and reliable transit service as well as improve access to jobs and services in central Indianapolis.

This project will also provide connectivity from the airport to Cumberland, IN, with 24 miles of upgraded bus lines, stations, sidewalk safety, and stormwater improvements.

This grant will be utilized for the design program management and construction management of the Blue Line.

Intended beneficiaries: The Blue Line is intended to benefit all current and future IndyGo riders as well as residents of the city of Indianapolis.

This project will provide vast improvements to IndyGo's existing Route 8, sidewalk improvements, crosswalk upgrades, and stormwater infrastructure.

FUND PROJECTS WHEN THE TOTAL PROJECT COST IS LESS THAN $400MILLION AND TOTAL SMALL STARTS FUNDING SOUGHT IS LESS THAN $150MILLION TO CONSTRUCT NEW FIXED GUIDEWAY SYSTEMS (LIGHT RAIL COMMUTER RAIL ETC.); AN EXTENSION TO AN EXISTING SYSTEM; THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FIXED GUIDEWAY BRT SYSTEM; OR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CORRIDOR-BASED BRT SYSTEM.
