Overview

Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide paratransit vehicles to public transit providers in rural areas and small urbanized and large urbanized areas of Illinois as detailed in IDOT's FFY23 Discretionary Bus Bus Facilities Grant Application (attached).

Activities performed: This grant will fund the purchase of 135 eligible ADA-accessible transit/paratransit vehicles for public transportation providers in Illinois. Vehicles will be purchased by IDOT on behalf of the providers.

Expected outcomes: Funding will provide much needed paratransit vehicles to rural transit providers throughout the state.

Intended beneficiaries: Public transit providers and Illinois residents who rely on transportation services will benefit from these accessible vehicles.

Subrecipient activities: This grant funds paratransit vehicles supporting public transportation for 29 rural providers, three (3) small urban providers, and three (3) large urban providers as detailed in the Program of Projects (POP).

THE GRANTS FOR BUSES AND BUS FACILITIES COMPETITIVE PROGRAM PROVIDES FUNDING TO REPLACE REHABILITATE AND PURCHASE BUSES AND RELATED EQUIPMENT AND TO CONSTRUCT BUS-RELATED FACILITIES INCLUDING TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGES OR INNOVATIONS TO MODIFY LOW OR NO EMISSION VEHICLES OR FACILITIES.
