Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to fund facility, vehicle, and safety improvements for public transportation providers in Illinois.

Activities Performed: Activities to be performed include safety enhancements for existing vehicles, replacement of buses beyond their useful life, and improvements to bus storage/maintenance facilities.

Expected Outcomes: Funding will support state of good repair initiatives, provide better reliability and comfort for passengers, and increase safety.

Intended Beneficiaries: Champaign County, Coles County, Kankakee County, Logan County, McLean County, City of Ottawa, South Central Illinois Mass Transit District, and Illinois residents who rely on these transportation services will benefit from these projects.

Subrecipient Activities: Champaign County and Coles County will receive capital funding for the purchase of paratransit vehicles off of State of Illinois master contracts initiated by IDOT's Consolidated Vehicle Procurement (CVP) program. Kankakee County, Logan County, and McLean County will receive capital funding for the purchase of communication equipment for vehicles serving deviated fixed routes. The City of Ottawa will receive capital funding for the design/engineering and rehab of its existing transit facility to increase in-house maintenance capabilities. South Central Illinois Mass Transit District will receive capital funds to purchase various equipment to support its service.
