Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to assist the City of Davenport's Transit Division in purchasing four electric buses to replace four diesel buses, as well as to purchase and install the necessary charging equipment for these buses. Lastly, to train all relevant staff/employees to understand, operate, and learn how to maintain the buses as part of workforce development.
Activities Performed: There are 3 main activities/projects that are part of this award. The purchase and deployment of four electric buses, the purchase and installation of electric buses charging equipment, and workforce development to be able to operate, maintain, and fully take advantage of the electric buses.
Expected Outcomes: The city expects to be able to retire 4 diesel buses and replace them with four electric buses. Additionally, this is expected to have several positive effects including, but not limited to, lower cost of operations for the city, cleaner air for drivers, riders, and all city residents, and fewer greenhouse gases emitted, thereby slowing the rate at which global warming increases. This will also improve the state of good repair for Citibus Transit.
Intended Beneficiaries: The intended beneficiaries are the residents who will have cleaner air, the city, and by extension, taxpayers who have a lower cost of operation for providing transit, and all the city staff who are provided additional training, which ensures their continued employment as good-paying, unionized jobs with the city.
Subrecipient Activities: There are no sub-recipient activities to be performed with this award.
