Grant Description
The primary goal of this project is to allow all countries to have sufficient national capacity and capabilities to prevent, detect, and manage biological challenges and risks.
Moreover, appropriate management strategies are needed for biosafety incidents or biosecurity breaches across all laboratory facilities to effectively handle potential outbreaks.
The COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) pandemic revealed the need for improvement in many aspects of laboratory biosafety and biosecurity (BS&S), such as surge capacity and sustainable provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfectants, regular maintenance of laboratory equipment, and the performance of robust risk assessments.
In addition, recent events including war, civil unrest, and natural disasters, challenge the integrity of biological materials.
