Grant Description
Kentucky's application for expansion of naloxone dispensing, information dissemination, and training for first responders in rural Kentucky counties - the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) is submitting a grant application to expand and further the established Kentucky FR-CARA program to provide services to 68 rural counties throughout Kentucky. If approved, KDPH will provide FR-CARA services to rural counties. 29 of the 68 counties are classified as 2022 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA).

The 68 designated FR-CARA counties are rural, historically underserved, impoverished, and are not located in a Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The population of focus are persons who are trained to administer naloxone, including all first responders and personnel at other approved entities.
