Grant Description
Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, Brief Intervention Counseling Team (BICT) - The Brief Intervention Counseling Team (BICT) program will enable Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) to support the delivery of clinical services impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and effectively address the needs of individuals with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and individuals with Co-occurring Disorder (COD).
Specifically, BHRS will target Spanish-speaking adult populations, uninsured and underinsured populations, underserved and unserved populations including rural populations in need of access to telehealth services, and diverse ethnic and cultural populations who face multiple barriers in accessing behavioral health treatment services.
The project will be implemented in Stanislaus County, California. The proposed program will provide required services and support to the target population including outreach and engagement using Motivational Interviewing; crisis intervention; brief intervention counseling including individual therapy, group counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy; and supportive services.
The evidenced-based practices to be used in the provision of services are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Seeking Safety, and Motivational Interviewing.
The proposed number of unduplicated individuals to be served is 400 per year for a total of 800 unduplicated individuals over the two-year grant period. The grant period is from September 30, 2021 – September 29, 2023. The total two-year grant-funded budget is $4,000,000. Grant funds will be used for staffing, supplies, and supportive services to serve the population of focus.
