Grant Description
River Reintroduction into Maurepas Swamp (Construction) --- The Restore Council has approved activities in council-selected restoration component funding for the River Reintroduction into Maurepas Swamp project, sponsored by Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana.
This project will implement a river reintroduction project through conveyance of Mississippi River water into the Maurepas Swamp to improve the structure, function, and resilience of the coastal forest habitat through reintroduction of fresh oxygenated water, nutrients, and sediment.

GOAL 1) RESTORE AND CONSERVE THE HEALTH DIVERSITY AND RESILIENCE OF KEY COASTAL ESTUARINE AND MARINE HABITATS GOAL 2) RESTORE AND PROTECT THE WATER QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF THE GULF COAST REGIONS FRESH ESTUARINE AND MARINE WATERS GOAL 3) RESTORE AND PROTECT HEALTHY DIVERSE AND SUSTAINABLE LIVING COASTAL AND MARINE RESOURCES GOAL 4) BUILD UPON AND SUSTAIN COMMUNITIES WITH CAPACITY TO ADAPT TO SHORT AND LONG TERM CHANGES AND GOAL 5) ENHANCE THE SUSTAINABILITY AND RESILIENCY OF THE GULF ECONOMY.
