Overview
Grant Description
Project Title: DOGAMI OLC Malheur 3DEP 2022 Project
Project Period: 6/1/2022-5/31/2024
The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI) has been funded by the USGS 3DEP program for a new Oregon Lidar Consortium (OLC) Lidar collection, titled DOGAMI OLC Malheur 2022 3DEP Lidar Project. This project will acquire ~926 square miles of new QL1 3DEP compliant Lidar data in Malheur County, located in eastern Oregon.
Deliverables will include hydro-flattened bare earth, highest hit, and intensity rasters, as well as classified point cloud data, project vector data, survey data, hydro break-line data, and a survey report. The funding for this project will also be used to hydro-flatten a recently collected Lidar dataset, the DOGAMI OLC Umatilla 2020 Lidar Project, to meet current 3DEP specifications.
The collection area includes parts of the Powder River, Malheur River, Bully Creek, and Willow Creek watersheds. This project will also be adjacent to the recently funded DOGAMI Baker County 2021 FEMA CTP QL1 Lidar Project and provide coverage for northern Malheur County for the first time.
The project area overlaps with USGS, BLM, FEMA, and USACE federal priority shapefiles for Oregon and will acquire Lidar over areas of interest for the current USGS and BLM abandoned mines project.
The elevation data collected by this project can be used at all levels of government to characterize and manage natural resources and hazards and assist with land-use planning objectives. This data will also be incorporated into the current USGS 1-meter National Elevation Map to increase overall elevation data coverage for the nation.
