Grant Description
Under this agreement, USDA/FAS is partnering with IICA to support the development and implementation of risk-based pesticide regulatory systems and maximum residue limit (MRL) policy consistent with international standards (e.g. CODEX) and based on WTO agreements.
IICA will implement activities related to strategic positioning and coordination, pesticide registration, data generation, MRL adoption and recognition.
Specific activities and beneficiaries will be determined in coordination with USDA/FAS and relevant stakeholders.
Intended beneficiaries are U.S. specialty crop stakeholders, regulatory officials, farmers, private sector, academia, and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
This is part of the USDA Foreign Agricultural Services initiative: assisting specialty crop exports.

Funding Goals
THE USDA FOREIGN AGRICULTURAL SERVICE’S ASSISTING SPECIALTY CROP EXPORTS (ASCE) INITIATIVE GOAL IS TO EXPAND U.S. SPECIALTY CROP EXPORTS BY ADDRESSING NON-TARIFF TRADE BARRIERS. THE GOAL OF THIS NOFO IS TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF RISK-BASED PESTICIDE REGULATORY SYSTEMS AND MAXIMUM RESIDUE LIMIT (MRL) POLICY CONSISTENT WITH INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS (E.G.
