Overview
Grant Description
Under this agreement, USDA/FAS is partnering with CABI to support the development and implementation of risk-based pesticide regulatory systems and maximum residue limit (MRL) policy consistent with international standards (e.g. CODEX) and based on WTO agreements.
CABI will implement activities related to identifying and prioritizing MRL related trade barriers; risk-based MRL policy setting in Asian economies; import tolerance setting in ASEAN countries; positioning and coordination, and MRL adoption and recognition.
Specific activities and beneficiaries will be determined in coordination with USDA/FAS and relevant stakeholders.
Intended beneficiaries are U.S. specialty crop stakeholders, regulatory officials, farmers, private sector, academia, and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
This is part of the USDA Foreign Agricultural Services initiative: assisting specialty crop exports.

THE ASSISTING SPECIALTY CROP EXPORTS (ASCE) INITIATIVE GOAL IS TO EXPAND SPECIALTY CROP EXPORTS BY HELPING U.S. EXPORTERS ADDRESS NON-TARIFF TRADE BARRIERS.
