Grant Description
Application purpose: The purpose of the Mandarin Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project is to provide much needed sidewalk improvements along Mandarin Road in Jacksonville, Florida.
Activities performed: The Mandarin Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project will repair sidewalks along Mandarin Road from Orange Picker Road to Red Cypress Drive and construct new sidewalks along Mandarin Road from Red Cypress Road to Walter Jones Historic Park in Jacksonville, Florida.
Expected outcomes: The extension of 2.2 miles of sidewalk and gaining pedestrian access to many of the historic landmarks in the area including the Mandarin Community Club, the Walker Jones Historic Park, which is home of the Mandarin Historical Museum, the Mandarin Cemetery, and the County Dock Pier.
The project will establish a secure pedestrian and bicycle route from eight transit stops traveling both north and south along Mandarin Road at the intersections of San Jose Blvd and Orange Picker Road located 0.9 miles and 1.6 miles from Orange Picker Road and San Jose Blvd respectively on Route 17.
Intended beneficiaries: The communities of Jacksonville.
