Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this award is to provide capital funding for transit service expansions in the city of Ocala and Marion County Small UZA.
Activities Performed:
1) Purchase 5 35-foot battery electric buses (BEBs)
2) Purchase 26 battery-electric small cutaway vans
3) Construct a battery-electric buses (BEBs) maintenance facility
Purchase 5 depot chargers for 35-ft BEBs
5) Purchase 22 depot chargers for battery-electric small cutaway vans
6) Purchase 4 depot superchargers for battery-electric small cutaway vans
7) Install depot chargers and upgrade power infrastructure
8) Perform workforce development activities
9) Hire a consultant to perform project administration management and technical support
Expected Outcomes: The funding will permit SunTran to begin electrifying its fleet as outlined in the latest Transit Development Plan (TDP), expand its current fixed-route service, and add new microtransit service to the citizens of Ocala/Marion County.
Intended Beneficiaries: This project will benefit Ocala/Marion County citizens relying on SunTran services.
