Grant Description
Application Purpose: The purpose of this project is to make site improvements and construct a new maintenance facility with access to parking on the roof to replace the existing facility that has met its useful life. This project will also include construction of a new training building, electric bus charging infrastructure, installation of a solar canopy, and improvements to the existing drainage system.
Activities Performed: Activities to be performed under this project include construction of a new maintenance facility with access to parking on the roof to replace the existing facility that has met its useful life. Activities will also include construction of a new training building, electric bus charging infrastructure, installation of a solar canopy, and improvements to the existing drainage system.
Expected Outcomes: The project will enable Broward County to maximize space at the Copans Road Operations and Maintenance Facility, replace the aging maintenance building that has met its useful life, and increase efficiency in transit operations with access to additional rooftop parking on the maintenance building. The project outcomes will allow Broward County to expand parking capacity, improve space for training of transit employees, and update the aging drainage system to increase resiliency and reduce flooding. This project will increase local employment opportunities within the transit industry.
Intended Beneficiaries: Broward County Transit and the riders that rely on its service will benefit from continued services providing reliable transportation to get to work, school, shopping, and other destinations.
