Grant Description
Application Purpose:
This is a Federal Fiscal Year 2021 (FFY21) Section 5311 Statewide American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act Rural Area Application in the amount of $16,698,428. Per the ARP Act, the grant requests 100% federal share. This application utilizes ARP Act funding to help respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Activities Performed:
The purpose of this award is to provide FDOT and its subrecipients capital and operating assistance to support public transportation in rural areas with populations of less than 50,000 where many residents often rely on public transit to reach their destinations. ARP Act funding activities will help respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. ARP Act funding will provide transportation services to the elderly, disadvantaged, and general populations that often rely on public transit for access to employment, medical, education, and recreational activities. ARP Act funding activities will include support vehicles acquisition, bus replacement under 30, promote support, provide and coordinate mobility planning and management, miscellaneous equipment acquisition, salaries and fringe benefits, safety equipment, fuel, personal protective equipment, and office supplies and expenses.
Expected Outcomes:
Funding will permit FDOT and its subrecipients to continue to respond to and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and support public transportation in rural areas with populations of less than 50,000 where many residents often rely on public transit to reach their destinations. Funding will enhance access to healthcare, education, employment, and other essential services within the state of Florida.
Intended Beneficiaries:
State of Florida residents in rural areas with populations of less than 50,000.
Subrecipient Activities:
A total of 24 organizations will receive funding for capital and operating assistance.
