Grant Description
This project addresses recovery goals and actions for federally listed plant species Dwarf Lake Iris in Michigan Action Plan 4 Goal 1 Actions 1 and 2.
Continued population monitoring is needed to better predict the probability of persistence of populations and to review and track recovery process.
Extant Dwarf Lake Iris populations need protection from threats and management and restoration.
A better understanding of the species response to habitat changes such as canopy cover should be examined.
We will increase Dwarf Lake Iris resiliency and ability to maintain sustainable populations to promote its recovery by implementing protective measures and habitat management at high priority sites.
Outreach materials and efforts will be made to improve public awareness of Dwarf Lake Iris and reduce habitat loss.
By implementing protective measures and raising awareness of the species we can decrease negative human impacts to the species.
Signage and other educational means will be used to help provide protection at high priority Dwarf Lake Iris sites.
