Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
This grant will fund North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to upgrade wetland impoundment infrastructure such as dikes, water control structures, pump stations, and access roads.
The proposed work is expected to improve the Wildlife Resources Commission's ability to manage the impoundments for the benefit of migratory waterbirds and improve the resiliency of the impoundments to extreme weather events and sea level rise.
Construction activities include living shoreline approaches to reduce wave energy and enhance degraded salt marsh habitat and shellfish nursery habitat.
Work will be conducted at the Pamlico Point, Campbell Creek, and Willow Point units of the Goose Creek and Gull Rock Gamelands in the Pamlico Sound region of North Carolina.
