Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) seeks funding to administer the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) program in Alabama. Currently, ADEM manages fifteen (15) projects, past and present.
The ADEM proposes to continue all aspects of the BIG program in Alabama including managing past, current, and future BIG projects, providing grant performance and accomplishments updates, providing monitoring efforts to ensure BIG-funded facilities are well constructed, meet project objectives, and serve the intended purpose for their useful life, and identifying and fostering potential future Alabama BIG projects, from inception to completion.
ADEM has not received any funds for managing BIG for several years. All the money was used by the grant sub recipients. ADEM has provided the funding to administer the BIG program.
Providing dedicated, direct administration of the BIG program in Alabama will allow the program to confidently monitor past projects for compliance, assist current BIG projects through the construction and implementation stages, and recruit potential BIG projects in the state of Alabama, resulting in an increase in tie-up facilities for transient boaters in Alabama.
