Project Grant
Overview
Grant Description
The Yolo HCP NCCP Giant Garter Snake Easement Acquisition Project involves the purchase of a habitat conservation easement and development of an associated site management plan that will permanently protect approximately 643 acres of high-quality habitat for the Giant Garter Snake in Northern California.
The Yolo Habitat Conservancy will hold the conservation easement and enroll the site in the Yolo HCP NCCP Reserve System. This will expand the existing network of protected habitat within the region and contribute to the recovery of the Giant Garter Snake by protecting land that contains a dense population of these snakes.
Additionally, the site provides habitat for a variety of other species, including five other species covered by the Yolo HCP NCCP: Western Pond Turtle, Tricolored Blackbird, Swainson's Hawk, White-tailed Kite, and Burrowing Owl.
